Do Singaporeans Dress Badly?

Do we? I personally think we don't. Maybe we used to but decades ago. It's obvious that our dressing senses have improved tremendously and that us Singaporeans are more vain these days. We no longer see people parading in Cross Colour jeans or wearing super bright yellow jeans together with bright green shirt. It's all history now. Phew!

Walk outside St James, you no longer see clubbers walking out of the clubs in slippers/flip-flops. Instead, you will see most ladies in gorgeous dresses and their heels just get higher. The men, you might even spot some in coats. Of course after a few minutes in the club, the coats are either on the stools or 'hung' on individual's forearms. It's just too warm to be in suits all night long.

Another place to see all these well-dressed people is in the MRT during the peak hours. I love seeing those office workers dress up for work. On Fridays, especially, don't be surprised if you were to see the bling-blings and the bright coloured attires. It's always nice to see nice and colourful things isn't it? Afterall, when you look good, you feel good.

However, I do wonder if some Singaporeans are dressed inappropriately sometimes.

There was one hot morning when I took the train and I saw this girl, probably in her twenties. She was wearing a pair of jeans, paired it with a tank top, a jacket and she had a shawl around her neck. Did I mention it was a hot morning? I couldn't help but wondered was it just me who was feeling hot or it was indeed hot! I looked around and those around me were either wiping their sweats away or fanning themselves.

What was wrong with that girl? Was she unwell or was she a fashion victim who was sweating like hell but had to keep her cool anyway cause she wanted to be 'stylish'? Or was she just trying to hide the heat rashes around her neck? Hmmm...

Another thing that made me wonder would be those people wearing boots! What's up with the boots babe(s)? Aren't boots worn to keep our feet/legs warm? Isn't our weather warm enough? Warm is an understatement.

Unless you're wearing a safety boots, I don't think boots are suitable for our country.

Oh! What about people wearing their PJs out?

Thus far, I've only seen the older generations doing that to places like the market or to shops around the neighbourhood, I don't really have a problem with that because when that happens, it's either too early or too late and it's not that disturbing to see the older people that way. Do people my generation actually go out in PJs? I've yet to bump into them.

Would I go out in my PJs?

I would! Provided, I can mix and match it with my accessories. That's what fashion is all about afterall - mix and match! :)

Whoever said we can't look good in PJs? *wink*
