My First Make-Up Set

When I was a kid, I got so excited each time I had a tarian (malay dance) performance because that was when I got to be all made up with blue eye shadows and red lipstick. That was probably the reason why I continued being in a dance group in primary school.

Staying back and going back to school to practice was never draggy cause I know that I would be performing while looking pretty to the crowd. Getting remarks like 'Wah! Rasheeqah, you look so pretty!' made me all smiley! Hey, who doesn't like praises right? On second thought, I don't really like praises at this age maybe because now I can tell the difference between a fake and an honest one. Oh! Let's not digress here.

Back to looking pretty, I wasn't allowed to wear make up during my primary school days. Not even lipstick but somehow, I ended up having a few lipsticks in my drawer. Hehehe!

At 12, I was so envious of my friends whenever I saw them openly applied lipsticks in front of their mothers. I then tried to convince my mum that I was old enough to have at least lipstick on my face. I failed!

Then, there was once at a relative's wedding, I was made up by one of the older relatives. I was the happiest girl! It was full make up and there wasn't any performances and best of all, Mum didn't frown upon seeing me. I pushed my luck and made myself up the next day with my sister's make up. If I remember it correctly, it was Elizabeth Arden. I felt like a grown up in that room - all locked and helped myself with the make up BUT when it was time to leave the room, I was so scared to open the door! Hahaha! I locked myself up for so long till Mum told me that she knew I had make up on and told me that I didn't have to be afraid. To my surprise, she wasn't angry at all! So there I was feeling like the prettiest girl in the world - having able to have full make up on for 2 consecutive days!

What made me blog about this? Nothing much really. It's just that I just threw away my very first make-up set bought by my sister for my 16th birthday. I was so damn thrilled upon getting that. I refused to throw it away though it was all mouldy but I did it anyway - just a few days ago...*wink*

Ironically, I somehow wish that I hadn't started at all cause I spend a lot of money on make up! At the same time, I enjoy putting colours on my face! Hehehe!
