BABBLING
Purple/Blue/White/Pink/Black/Red = Grey = FRUSTRATIONS!!!
(Colour Blind, Fickle, Confused Or Simply Ignorant??!)
Every year, I will make it a point to at least have 1 pair of Baju Kurung tailored made for Hari Raya. Unfortunately my favourite tailor passed away last year (may GOD bless her soul - Kak Shaza). Hence the last minute kelam-kabut cari tailor and thanks to Wasabi, she recommended me someone who is almost quite as good as the late Kak Shaza.
The chosen material for this year was the blue one which I bought 2 years ago! Heh!
Every year, it has also been a habit for me and the vain girlfriends to buy 1 or 2 more at Geylang. Not that we need to but like I mentioned, it has become our habits and us being us, we just can't resist those colourful laces and batiks. Almost the same designs every year but we just find pleasure buying them and always had a 'valid reason' for our purchases.
Just 1 new pair for the festive season is definitely not enough!
I wanted dark purple to be the matching colour for me and Aid but I just could not find THE right one. It was either the tone or the design that I disagreed with so I thought we should just settle with pink since his mum gave me a white Kebaya that comes with a pink kain. He refused to wear pink! He had 1001 reasons for not wanting to wear pink and he was not in favour with white too!
Why didn't we just settle for blue you ask? Well, he insisted that he does not have that colour even though I am 100% sure he has it at home cause we were supposed to wear blue last year and I was the one who took it from the shop but I just can't be bothered to argue cause it was pointless and furthermore that blue one is to go out with The Girls. I am just waiting for the day for him to tell me "ah ah la B, ada baju biru la kat almari I terselit, I baru nampak". When that happens, he'll definitely get a bitchy smirk from me!
I was then back to square one and it was already the last week of Ramadhan. He doesn't enjoy walking around Geylang and I don't enjoy rushing when I'm shopping and he was getting super restless and super cranky so I perished the thought of having purple. I thought any colour would do as long as we match. That's all I want - for us to have a matching colour cause I like it that way and Hari Raya is the only time when we plan to wear matching outfits. If you were to see us wearing matching colours on normal days, that is simply coincidental!
He called me one day from the shop to tell me that he liked one of the new arrivals and what's more , it was purple. The only bummer was, it was a Baju Kurung instead of Kebaya. He convinced me that Baju Kurung was a better option since we would be going around on the bike. Though hesitating, I tried being submissive and since he chose it, I agreed. After all, it's not always about me and my choices right?!!
Finally last Saturday was nearing and I was excited to go visiting with him not only for the fact it was with him - I just love visitings! However, a few nights before that, he told me that we could actually wear pink! I got so frustrated because he was so against the idea and suddenly was okay with it - after I had my kain altered so tight that there was no way I could be on the bike with it! It was so tight that I could not even lift it up! I just brushed it away and told him to wear black since we'd be eating a lot and Kurung is definitely more comfortable than Kebaya for that matter.
Oh did I mention that the Baju Kurung he was telling me about is actually black & red and not purple?
So Saturday finally came and for the first time I was all ready half an hour before he came to fetch me. That shows how excited I was!
Half an hour later, I was damn frustrated! Reason being........:
I went down just to find out he was in a car instead of being on the bike which was a good thing of course as it's always more comfortable being in the car but if he had told me that he was driving, we so could have gone pink right?
I went in the car and guess what I saw?!! He was wearing........GREY!!! My outfit was red & black! The only thing that matched my outfit was his songkok - even the hair didn't match! I felt like going up and change but heck didn't wanna make a din and I didn't wanna spoil my mood. I just told myself to fuck it and just make do! To add to my frustrations, he kept insisting he was wearing black. He was wearing one with lots of thin stripes of black and white and so insisted that it was black - till this day!!!
You don't have to be an art student to know the equation of black+white=grey right?
Anyway, The above complaint is merely a complaint - just a trivial matter and we didn't even argue over this issue (see! I have mellowed a lot!) and the purpose of this entry is to just let it out of my system cause the more I look at the pictures, the more tak-puas-hati I feel. Like I said, I only match on Hari Raya. In other words, it's just a once a year event so excuse me for getting a little frustrated.
Moral of this entry, you can never put 100% trust on men when it comes to such things cause to them it's just a small issue. The irony is that we girls, pay attention to small details more than anything else. Small details which they think don't matter at all.
Next year and the following years to come, I will definitely make sure the above (wrong) combinations won't happen again! Let him choose the colour but I will definitely be there to make sure the colour said is the colour seen!
Things happen for a reason
