It was a really nice house. Carpeted floors, with almost every furniture in white. I went straight up to the spiral staircase and chose the Girls' room. I jumped like a kid while shouting 'TB'. Both of us were so contented with the room and an empty wardrobe was a bonus! We unpacked and within minutes the empty wardrobe was filled.
We chilled again and went partying at Evolution. It was a nice place. Nice crowd and cheaper drinks.
Palo, Aid's friend came to see me. It's always nice to see familiar faces right?
Day 2
We slept till noon or probably later. Oh ya! By the way time difference was 3 hours when we got there. Few days later it was only 2 hours due to 'daylight savings'.
Alyaa came by at almost evening after her class. She brought us to Glen, had Pizza and we went to Pancake Parlour for desserts. The pancakes were superb! Check out the pictures below for serious drooling:
We did a little shopping just outside Pancake Parlour and headed home.
The others continued their night at St Kilda for some partying while I stayed home spending quality time with the sister and niece.
They came back at around 5 am with noises and of course I was awakened and they filled me in with the fun which I apparently missed. Heh!
Day 3
The initially plan was to go to Victoria Market but we were caught in a jam and headed to the City instead. I didn't get anything except for donuts.
of course I went crazy!
We bought 2 boxes of those super sweet donuts. Walked around a bit and took the 'Cinderella Carriage' and we waved like the Queen. Headed home not long after.
Dee came and we sent Alyaa back to her place. It was almost an hour drive from Kak Chik's place. That was where we had video call with my mum and Kak Ah and also Nani.Came home and the couple was watching TV comfortably on the couch. We joined them and TB cooked instant noodles.
We (Kak Chik, TB and I) stayed up till almost 2 am to plan the itineraries for the next few days.
Day 4
Our first destination was Melbourne Zoo and surprisingly we got there less than an hour. The zoo was super huge! We spent probably 2 hours there.
The lions were huge and we were quite close to them. My best siting was the butterflies. It's something like the one we have in Singapore but they have more butterflies and they were flying everywhere. TB had to drag me out of that butterfly 'cage'.
After the zoo, we headed to Phillip Island to see the penguins. We got lost along the way. We got to Penguin Paradise nevertheless. Unfortunately, we were told that the penguins were already asleep. How sad was that?! We spent 2 hours locating the place and we were not allowed in cause we were only half an hour late! Grr!!!
All of us only had breakfast and it was already 730pm. We ended up in a seafood restaurant somehow and had a great meal there.
If you happen to go Melbourne, you should go to Phillip Island cause the stars seemed to be so near us and it was a beautiful sight!
Day 5
It was quite a warm day. We managed to get to Victoria Market this time round. However, we got there about half an hour before they closed. That's one of the bummers in Australia. The shops close early. Another one would be they don't have chilli there. Not even chilli sauce.
Back to Victoria Market, despite reaching there just to see the vendors packing, we did manage to buy quite a number of souvenirs.
Had our meal at Nandos and went to '360 Degrees Observation Centre'. There, you can see the whole of Melbourne.
It was still early and since we didn't have to wake up early the next day, we decided to take a walk and took the Ferris Wheel. It wasn't that big but it was quite high. Picture above was taken on the ride.
Lina treated us dinner that night and again, it was a nice dinner.
Day 6
Dee and Mel decided to give us a surprise visit in our room at 8am! As always, I could not continue my sleep after that. Had breakfast with them, woke the girls up and we (including Kak Chik) were all set to go to Great Ocean Road to see the Apostles.
Kak Chik, TB and myself were so looking forward to it but unfortunately (yet again!!!), we didn't make it! I shan't go on about this day cause it's really Aarrggghhh!!!
Day 7
It was another sunny day and for the first time we didn't lose our way and got to the destination in less than 45 minutes. Dandenong was near Kak Chik's place anyway. Dandenong is the street name for TB's chosen place.
I'm glad she chose that. We took a ride on Puffing Billy - a train of more than 100 years old.
cowgirls wannabe?
After the train ride, we went shopping! Knox was the first 'proper' shopping mall we went and did our shopping! We spent about 4 hours there I think. We had to rush back cause we were heading to a strip club that same night and counted down Dee's 27th birthday.
what we shopped
Day 8
Woke up around 11 am, had breakfast and left the house at almost 1pm to send the couple to the airport.
We went to Dee's place after that cause her mum, Emelda wanted to see Raha's sister. That would be me. Duh!
Probably just 5 minutes after introducing myself to her, the moment I wanted to put my butt on the sofa, I was jumping and landed on TB's lap.
Their dog, Buster suddenly appeared like a foot away from me. He's huge and really scary looking!!!!!
We had to leave Dee's house before 7pm as I had a coffee meeting with a former classmate. Her name is Shahnaz. The last time we met was on her wedding day which was more than 2 years ago. TB came along of course and they (Shahnaz and her husband) brought us to St Kilda for wonderful cakes when we were supposed to go to somewhere around the suburb.
We caught up and surprisingly we managed to get home before 11pm.
We had Dee's birthday to celebrate remember?
Day 9
Guess what?! They (Faizal and Shahnaz) decided to take us out the next day. They fetched us and we went to Great Ocean Road. However, again we didn't make it. We were already half way there but by the time we were to get there, it would be too dark to see the Apostles. Faizal felt really bad about it. He shouldn't cause it was not his fault at all!
We concluded that we were not destined to see it and that we had another reason to go back to Melbourne. Hehe!
Faizal brought us to the Waterfall instead. Nothing special but it was nice and I got to take picture with a 'Koala'.
Taufik the Koala
Day 10
It's time to go home! Well, supposedly that is! We decided to extend for another day since TB only goes back to work on Tuesday, we decided to change our flight to Monday instead.
Since we had 1 extra day, we decided to go crazy at Victoria Market. *evil grin*
Before I go on, here's a little information on my sister. She hates pink! She hates it real bad! She couldn't stand it whenever I wore pink, she hated my pink hair so to spite her even more, TB and I decided to wear pink on our last day.
I wore a maroonish pink top with a striped leggings. I look hideous definitely but who cares!
she looks so stiffed! Haha!
what we shopped in Victoria Market
Kak Chik treated us dinner at an Indonesian restaurant. Not that great but it filled our stomach and as the day became darker, it became cooler too... That explains my head-dress. *wink*
Said our goodbyes to Alyaa at the city as it was nearer for her to go home from there than Kak Chik's place. We took the tramp home with those super heavy shopping bags and packed our stuffs as soon as we got home.
We both came with a luggage each. After packing, we had 3 extra luggages. Our excess baggage came to almost S$2000.00. We left the Bangla bags behind as couriering it over is definitely lesser than that amount! Grr!
At about 1am at probably 8 degrees, we walked to Kak Chik's work place - Knox Hospital. We were introduced to some of her colleagues. Dee was so surprised to see us there! Haha!
Day 11
Despite working on a night shift the night before, Dee sent us to the airport. She looked stoned but she was still quite stable. Hehe!
The above picture is what we had intended to bring home. Wishfull thinking!!! Hmmmph!
That was how I spent my days in Melbourne. I'm definitely will be going back there...
